Eating in Wimbledon

In addition to all the bars worth visiting on our Wimbledon page, that all provide food, there are also a few restaurants that are frequently visited by tennis celebrities and players. For example, the Maison St Cassien, 71 High Street, SW19 5EE (0208 944 1200) is a very popular spot for lunch and proudly displays photographs of some of its more famous visitors, for example, Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova, Abdre Agassi and Boris Becker. Indeed, Becker is now a very local character, living only a short distance away, and also with Michael Ballack as his neighbour (they actually live opposite each other).

During Wimbledon, Andy Murray is a regular at Pizza Express, 84 High Street, SW19 5EG (0208 946 6027) and the Williams sisters are regular visitors, together with their bodyguards, at Lydon's Restaurant, 67 High Street, SW19 5EE (0208 947 8278). The Williams sisters also visit the Eclipse Bar and Thai Tho restaurant.

In addition, there is Le Pain Quotidien, 4-5 High Street, SW19 5DX (0207 486 6154), a small part of Brussels in Wimbledon, it's a great patisserie, where you will not eat better croissants anywhere else in the country and somewhere I love visiting, whether in Brussels, Kensington, Wimbledon or wherever there is a PQ.
